This was my personal car being prepared to list for sale. Always taken care of properly, washed almost on a weekly basis, so I had a good base to start with. There were some light swirls and marring from the previous owner and some of the track time it had seen, but overall in very good shape for being 16+ years old. To start things off, the wheels, tires and wheel wells were thoroughly cleaned, then we moved to foaming the car to let the dirt and debris loosen before it was powerwashed off. A hand wash was then performed with the “two bucket” method to ensure I didn’t add any more defects to the paint.
Once the car was pulled into the shop, the paint, head/tail lights and glass were given a clay bar treatment to prepare the surfaces for polishing. A one step polish was carried out with my Rupes Bigfoot 21 and a 5″ buff and shine pad. Once the polishing was complete, the car was wiped down with Gtechniq Panel Wipe to ensure all polishing oils were removed before Gtechniq Crystal Serum Black was applied. This is a coating that requires wet sanding with 1500 grit paper to remove! The icing on the cake was another layer of protection of Gtechniq ExoV2 for that added gloss and hydrophobicity.
